The Extraction Conundrum: When Does Cracked Mean Condemned?

Live Webinar!

Date: Monday 7 September 2026

Time: 06.30pm – 07.30pm AEST (Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne)

CPD: 1 point

Cracked teeth present a common but often difficult treatment-planning dilemma: which teeth can be predictably retained, and when does a crack make extraction the more appropriate option? Using current European Society of Endodontology guidance, recent outcome studies and illustrative clinical cases, this webinar will provide a practical framework for classifying longitudinal cracks, assessing their pulpal, periapical and periodontal consequences, and identifying the key prognostic markers that influence survival. Contemporary management of vital and root-filled cracked teeth will be reviewed, together with restorative and occlusal strategies to maximise longevity and the diagnosis of vertical root fracture, including the selective role of limited-field CBCT.
